List name
Red List GB Post 2001 - Red list conservation status of GB species EXCLUDING BIRDS - based on IUCN guidelines
Owner
k.oliver@nbn.org.uk
List type
Conservation list
Description
This list is intended to cover species (excluding birds) that are found in the UK and does not currently include all species found in overseas territories. The Species Status Assessment project which feeds into this spreadsheet (through the UK red lists and "rare and scarce species" reporting categories) only assesses species that are native or long-established non-natives (Archaeophytes/Archaeofauna). Please note that this is not a comprehensive collation of designations for UK species as some local red list assessments are not included and, for some reporting categories, only selected annexes/appendices/schedules are covered. See section on known gaps below. Additionally, the collation is managed to reflect the source lists (although common name and scientific name may have been inter-changed for older sources). Common names are not always present in the source list, so filtering on the Common Name column in the Master List is not advised and may generate incomplete results. This least does not include the conservation statuses of birds. There are separate lists for birds as their conservation designation may vary during different life stages (i.e. breeding or non-breeding). Please see individual bird lists for information.
